About the study
This was my bachelor’s thesis in Marine Science at Universitas Hasanuddin. Titled Analysis of Eroded Coastal Area Change at Tanjung Layar Putih, Makassar, it looked at how much of this stretch of the Makassar coast has been lost to erosion over time.
Why it mattered
Urban coastlines change quickly, and the people who live and work along them feel that change long before it shows up in reports. Measuring where and how fast the shoreline moves is the first step toward managing it.
What it started
This study is where my interest in coasts seen from a distance began, and it led directly to the satellite-based work I do now.
